Claudette Owens has lived several lives — each one rich with purpose, each one feeding into the next. As a registered nurse for many years, she stood at the intersection of the human body and the fragility of life, witnessing firsthand what it means to protect and to heal. As a singer-songwriter, she learned to transform feeling into form — to make the invisible audible. As a mother of four sons and a grandmother to a growing family, she understands the primal, unconditional nature of a love that cannot be legislated.

Owens has always written — privately, in notebooks, in song. Humana began the same way: as a private question. What if the most natural human act became a crime? The question would not let her go. Over time, Sarah, Jimmy, Alexa, and Ximena became real to her — not characters but people she felt responsible for.
She lives in Mableton, Georgia, surrounded by family, and is already at work on what comes next.
